Best place to board dogs

We have a vacation coming up and are looking for someplace close to the Slope to board our dog. For years we've used Biscuits and Bath in Manhattan because they do such a great job, however, it gets to be a pain in the ass to get a car at JFK, go into Manhattan to pick up our pooch, and then go back into Brooklyn (not to mention pricey).

Any suggestions? We've got a small pup (about seven pounds if it matters). Where do you all go to board your animals for about a week?

Here is another great forum (UrbanHound). Beware, however... I was trying to decide where to board our dog for the next trip, and after reading all the posted topics about different boarding facility, I've decided to just find a friend to board instead. Scary. But now the question is: what friends do I trust with my dog...

Woofs and Whiskers and Dog Abby are the only places I'd leave my dog. Dog Abby won't take a dog until it's "interviewed", which is fine with me since that screens out any problem cases.

try the pets forum on this board. you might even ask if any of its readers would board your dog. depending on the dog's size and temperament, they might - and they're pet maniacs, so (following an interview and such) you might well strike gold.

that's what i would do if i didn't have a friend with whom i do regular dog-babysitting exchanges.
