I want to take my wife out on a date tonight. Don't know much about the burg, but would like to find a cool resturant that she would like. She likes mexican, tai, indian, and british (as in chip shop). She also loves good wine.....

Thanks in advance.

Just seeing your post after the fact however next time try N6th st. from Bedford to Kent they have a few good restaurants. Try Sea on N6th tween Kent and Berry. Also Tacu Tacu on N6th tween Bedford and Berry.

+2 for tacu tacu. I'm also a fan of Relish on the corner of N3rd and Wythe. Also Snacky on Grand btw Bedford and Driggs. Fun appetizers and a $4 beer and sake shot deal. That can get dangerous. 8)

SEA and Tacu Tacu? You guys have shitty taste in restaurants. SEA? I thought only broke 23 year olds who have no taste but want to feel worldly eat there? And Tacu Tacu is just filthy with less-than mediocre food.

Want a good meal hit Dressler. Or Marlow & Sons. Or the Peruvian restaurant next to Union Pool. Taco Chulo is great, too.

I'm broke and 24, is there something wrong with that? I guess I should just eat out of the garbage?

I'm sorry, are you agreeing with the post then? Or are you claiming that you _do_ have taste and are _not_ just wanting to feel worldly?

    Just tryin' to clarify...

Haha no I don't give a hell about feeling worldly. I've done my share of international traveling, I've seen some fun places. I feel wordly enough for myself :D As for taste, well I likes what I likes! I'm actually not a fan of SEA either, I went once and it was annoying and mediocre at best. I just go where I can afford and where I don't think sucks.

I love egg - N. 5th and Bedford. They've been serving lunch and dinner for a while now and the prices are very reasonable and the portions quite large.

And also, Dressler and Dumont are great spots. For wine, maybe D.O.C. Wine Bar? They have some small plates there as well. And Zenkichi is surprisingly good - izakaya-style spot on N. 7th.

i second dressler, dumont (both, though the one on bedford doesn't have good seating). diner? meh. i found the food uninspiring, and for a date? no thanks, i'd rather be taken to the new kellogg's diner where at least i know it's clean and not overrated.

lodge is gorgeous. and the chinese place next door looks very much like nothing at all, but the food is amazing.

Oh - Bozu has a great sake and shochu selection as well, and the server we had (Big guy, goatee) was very knowledgeable in guiding us around the menu.
