Has anyone been by the ball fields to see if the vendors are back in action? Mama needs some huaraches!

Try the Fort Greene Flea Market on Sundays -- come early, the line was loooooooooooong.

k...it's past mid-June now...are we ever going to see them? is this how the man will finally get rid of the vendors? tie them up in paperwork?

FYI - some of the vendors set up a food tent at Brooklyn Flea each Sunday (you know the one, at Vanderbilt at Lafayette in Clinton Hill).

In fact, they have one *hell* of a lineup of food tents at Brooklyn Flea. Red Hook vendors cooking pupusas etc, Choice Bakery delicacies, those Wafel Dingen guys, some barbecue folks and various others.

So if you are indeed jonesin' for your Red Hook vendors' food, you may support them at teh flea.

Yeah, I went to Flea once and was sort of depressed by how not flea market-y it was. Way too overpriced and precious, and the crowd sort of irritated me. I'll just have to wrap my head around it being a food destination instead of a flea market :)

But I'd rather have the vendors back in Red Hook so I can eat a pupusa or a taco and watch the fitba.

t-fal, I agree. Even the old little toys the kids had their eyes on were $5 minimum...and these weren't collectibles in original plastic packaging I'm talking about here, just old plastic junk that you could find at stoop sales for 50 cents or a buck each.

So yeah, it's more of a place for people to go that are looking to blow more cash than usual, OR find some cool new arts and crafts type stuff ( <-- and that is actually a valid reason for going in itself, if one is so inclined)...but hardly a sleepy ol' bargains kinda flea market at the county fairgrounds as the name would imply, with hubcaps galore and some sha-na-na cover band up on stage.

[pauses for fond memories of another time and place]

And I do agree that it does take some getting used-to.

the brooklyn flea is great for some stuff: I love that redress is there and showcasing plus-size vintage clothing. I also love seeing brooklynpotter's awesome ware there. however. the rest is pretty lame. it's not a flea market really. oh well.
