Lamp repair?

I have a vintage floor lamp with a big glass globe top that recently shattered on my kitchen floor. Anyone know if Pinchik or another neighborhood store will do repairs? I've heard Mayday will but I've vowed never to set foot in there again...

I've had a few good experiences with repairs and purchases at Lamp Warehouse on Ft. Hamilton Pkwy and 38th St.

I'm also interested in hearing suggestions for lamp repair. Anyplace closer than 38th St? I think the problem with mine is the wiring--would an electrician handle something like that?

Why not Mayday? My understanding is that some people might be put off by the owner's seemingly gruff disposition, but I've found him to be a generous and knowledgeable man with an amusingly dry sense of humor. Once I did not have enough cash on hand to pay for key copies, and he gave them to me on loan with the understanding I would return. I had a lamp repaired there recently. It cost $15 for the service plus about an additional $10 for replacement parts which they had to order. What made you "vow never to set foot in there again"?
