What, besides Yummy Taco and/or Michaels, should we have delivered.

Such a useful site and map. You can navigate around with the N,S,E&W buttons. Even if you don't know the name of the place, you can usually find the number...

Le Gamin has started a prix fix menu Monday thru Thursday for $20, AND THEY NOW DELIVER! Yes, I meant to yell, I'm pretty happy about it.

I've only had the drunken noodle, which I liked. My wife has liked the food that she's gotten there, too, but she likes stuff that's too sweet for my tastes. What Thai spot would you recommend as an alternative, and why?

i would totally recommend Song on 5th ave. down by 3rd/4th street over any other Thai place in the neighborhood. cheap, great atmosphere, great food. only thing that kills it is the long wait on weekends.

Mango makes for a good take-out option, and better than Lemongrass, but I don't consider it to be very good thai food.

I can't stand cloying Thai food - it's a sure sign to me a place is going to hell.
    First it happened at Lemongrass.
(The tao hu hor  used to be an amazing dish! And the thin pork chops...mmmmm)

Then Long Tan. Great pad thai, great masaman lamb . . . then . . . sweeeet ick. Jungle curry is still good tho, and I noticed they are serving a happy hour steak/mash/spinach special at the bar. ey? Could be good, but it's not pan-asian delight.

Mango started at cloying sweet ick.

So yes indeed, Song is the one at the moment.
But I hardly ever eat Thai near home anymore since I'm picky.

I had Mango for lunch today and actually liked it better than the previous couple of times I've ordered it... The lunch specials there are pretty incredible- a meal sized order, bowl of soup, spring roll, and small salad with the standard thai-peanut dressing for 6 bucks. I always get drunken noodles, but today they seemed to pack a little more kick than the last couple of times. Plus they're nice, they have a phone number database so there's no ordering confusion (my one complaint with yummy taco) and they delivered super fast.

That said, I've been to Song and it's definitely better food, but if you don't feel like taking that hike, Mango is a nice alternative, and to me, much better then Lemongrass. Never had Long Tan.

agree that mango's cheap (especially the lunch specials), but not that it's better than lemongrass. lemongrass is just better prepared all around.

other places to order: joy, the indian place on flatbush, is good. (i'd avoid the one on vanderbilt.)

and we like hunan wok on 7th ave., especially the steamed watercress dumplings.

I agree. Asian takeout at my house is most likely to be from Joy.

i had the tikka masala from Joy once and didn't like the quality of the chicken used. i don't know if there's any other indian take-out for folks on the PH side, but i am more than happy with Amin on 7th on the PS side. everything is fairly solid.

no problem with Long Tan, but Song is still cheaper and tastier, so i don't really have much of a use for them anymore.

Mango.....i just feel like there's a thousand thai places out of there that, while yummy, really in the end are giving you some stir fry with corn starch mixed with some fruity or salty or sour whatever flavor. that's what Mango is. cheap? yes. good for take-out? yes. something to jump up and down about? eh.

let me be a shill one last time and say this....Elios fricking rules.

We got Mango. They screwed up our order and had to deliver twice. The food is so-so.
