I'm not too familiar with the area south of Eastern Parkway, but north of it on St. Johns right by Franklin is an awesome bar, Franklin Park, which has a really great outdoor section and some good beers on tap. There are some other good restaurants up and down Franklin as well, such as Homage, Saje and Bristen's as well as a few other places.

I'm usually out very late walking around, its not uncommon for me to walk from Park Slope to Nostrand around 12-1 am on any given week night. Overall I've never felt very threatened, that said I'm a guy and I know its a different situation often with women, but its not too bad but be aware of yourself and your surroundings. That goes for any neighborhood in NYC though. Crown Heights is a great place though and I hope you enjoy the new neighborhood.

Eh, it's ok, its fine. School gets out- kids are loud. Franklin is eh, fine, just keep your head up, no ipod, blah blah, do a search for Franklin Ave South and you'll find a relatively newish thread all about that area.

    Oh, and welcome!
