Hi Everyone,

I'm a small business owner, contemplating advertising on 1010 WINS. My concern is that with all the new technology: internet; RSS feeds, etc. do people still listen to 1010 WINS?

Please take a minute and let me know the following:

-Do you or someone you know listen to 1010 WINS?
-If yes, how often (days, times)

I'd appreciate any comments you may have!

First, I'd like to offer that the station should have full info about their audience for you. It is their job to entice you to advertise there, and they should have a lot of statistics and pretty graphs and whatnot.

Second, perhaps undertaking a survey to ascertain radio listening habits on the internet isn't the representative way to, uh, do it.

Thirdly, in direct answer to your two questions, I know of several people who listen to 1010 WINS religiously in the morning and early afternoon drive times on weekdays, and any other time they are in the car on the roads and worried about traffic.

in return for my 22 minutes, they give me the world. that's not such a bad tradeoff

but seriously, i think mostly "sedentary" people and the older guard still listen to a station like 1010 wins

you'd have to figure out who you're trying to reach out to in your ads

i may listen to get sports or traffic info while stuck in my car or something, but otherwise no. if i do, it might be for like 3-5 minutes at a time and less than 3 times a week or so

I'll buy "older guard," but "sedentary" seems like exactly the type that _wouldn't_ listen to 1010 WINS to me.

I'm neither old nor sedentary, but for some reason, I listen to 1010 wins a lot. I think it may be a post 9/11 need to always hear the news, but I alternate 1010 wins with NPR in the morning, and then before going to bed just to get a daily recap.

And then in the car for traffic.

I listen to 1010 wins every morning on my way to work and during my drive back home. I think its a good idea to advertise with them and believe the best time for your ad to come on would be in the morning while people are driving to work.

    best of luck....

I listen to 1010 wins every morning getting ready for work and on and off during the day for updates on weather and traffic.

I was just listening to it in the car and back on my way out to the Gateway shopping center. News, weather, traffic.....22 minutes....it's predictable in a good way

I don't have a car, but on the rare occasion that I rent one, I listen to 1010 WINS for a few minutes "on the 1's" when I need traffic and weather reports and I just missed the 880 traffic and weather report "on the 8's." I never listen to ads and I never listen to news radio at home.

1010WINS beats 880WCBS. I listen to it everyday in the morning. They never miss saying if Alternate-side of the street parking is in effect or not.

I'm a rebel. I'm strictly News 880. If I'm in the car and I miss the traffic and weather on the "8's" then I'll turn it to WINS so I can catch T&W on the "ones".

I pm'd you, I used to work for 880 selling advertising and I can give you an inside perspective on all of it.
FYI everyone - 880 and 1010 are both owned by CBS radio.

I love it when I'm in a car service vehicle and we're listening to either 1010 or 880, especially if I'm coming from manhattan to brooklyn (or queens to brooklyn, or NJ to brooklyn, etc). it makes me feel like the driver gives a fuck.

1010 WINS is the highest-rated AM station in the city. And #3 overall, counting in FM. WINS would be an excellent ad buy for a New York company, as its listenership is concentrated in the five boroughs, and is at its strongest in the mornings.
And yes ... the WINS sales department can fill you in on the latest numbers, cost per thousand, etc. etc.
