Any newish (last year or so) bars in these areas? Preferably with good beer on tap and of course decent specials?

Franklin Park, which is on St. Johns near Franklin (between Classon and Franklin but only two buildings or so from the corner of Franklin), is fantastic. I think you'd really enjoy it.

    Hey!

Can you tell me anymore about it? I'm looking for a place to bring my alcoholic running group...

Alafairnadia is right in recommending Franklin Park. The actual bar is set back from the street, while the front area is an open-air beer garden with chairs, tables, and some wooden stools. The bartenders have been friendly and efficient whenever I've gone. Beer selection is not amazing, but definitely good enough to have a fun time with a group. Though they have no food, all area restaurants deliver there. Also, they have an ATM, which is very convenient for when the desire to drink exceeds the amount of $ in the wallet!

Check it out, it's a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

The Schneiderweiss is my favorite...and also their most expensive I think at $7. The Six Points is good too. There's a dark one I like as well but I'm blanking out on the rest atm.
