area around Martense Flatbush?

Subject: Martense and Flatbush

Martense used to be a big drug block. I'm not sure how much that has cleaned up but the history of that particular block is not pretty.

Do you know where I can read more about that? It looked pretty much like BedStuy to me, lots of 20-something and older fellows loitering outside of buildings. I wasn't sure what to make of it, socializing or drug dealing? Any recommendations on better blocks in the area? Thanks.
