dog-friendly bar?

A friend of mine claims there's a bar in Park Slope that keeps a lot of take-out menus on hand, so dog-owners have a place to eat indoors with their dogs. Any ideas as to which bar this is, if it even exists?

The Gate, on 5th Ave and 3rd Street, keeps a big binder with takeout/delivery menus. Dogs are welcome, and you can sit inside or outside on their patio.

We've taken our dog to Pacific Standard (4th btwn Bergen & St Marks) several times. They don't really serve food though but I know you can bring your own or have it delivered. Not sure about the menus.

Wait... is this a joke? Like bringing strollers and babies to bars?

Will grandma-friendly bars be next?

Of course there are grandma-friendly bars. They especially love it when grandma's had a few too many and starts dancing on the bar. Incredible feat after a hip replacement!

Commonwealth on Fifth and 12th allows dogs and so does Bait and Tackle in Red Hook.

I think your friend is referring to The Gate on Fifth Ave and 3rd St. They only serve alcohol there but have a huge binder filled with menus from all the neighborhood restaurants. The have inside and outside seating. I take my large dog there quite often. They're really dog friendly.

I love The Gate. My boyfriend and I went just last night with our dog (see avatar) and there were at least five other pups there. They have takeout menus from pretty much every decent restaurant in the neighborhood. I highly recommend calling Jake's BBQ. They're in Cobble Hill but will deliver to The Gate. Try the ribs!

Love the Gate - the first time I went, there was a cocker spaniel on his own barstool next to his owner; a mutt hanging out with his (not-so- responsible, retract-the-retractable-leash-already) owner; and a beautiful golden retriever just inside the doorway.

Other than the Gate - I think all dog-friendly bars are in Paris ;-)
