Anyone have any pictures of 7th ave btwn 5th & 6th st before that B&N building went up in 1998, when the whole block was just a big parking lot for Methodist Hospital?

Yes I do - do you need them for something special or do you just want them posted?

You should be looking for photos of the houses where families were dislodged by the Methodist to create that parking lot , which was later developed for Corp use by Barnes & Noble along with Rite Aid.

What year was the parking lot created?

Nothing special. I was just talking about it to someone who just moved to Brooklyn a few years ago, and he didn’t believe me that so recently that Barnes & Nobles space was just a parking lot. It’d be nice if I had the picture to show him, but also since it’s only in my memory I’d be curious to see a photo of it again.

I have lived here since 1987 and don't remember any houses being there-when were there houses there?

I moved here in 87 too. It wouldn't surprise me if houses were torn down for the parking lot.

Parking lot dated from the '80's or before.
    Nothing special there.

They were walk up buildings that were either three or four stories each ,I don't remember the year they were taken down but it had to be in the late 70's, I'm going to talk to some of the people who were in the neighborhood at that time and get an exact date.

Love these, especially Eighth Avenue looking southwest to Fourth Street, c.1900.

I spoke with Joe Ferris who was our Assembly Man in the 70's, as well as a Park Slope Historian and he said the residential building on 7th avenue were torn down by the Methodist in the mid sixties to build a parking lot, which is now the home of Barnes & Noble
