Hi,

Does anyone know where to buy a excellent quality couch that will last long. Looking for something in the $500-$700 range which may also be on sale at that price range from around 1000 dollars. Thank you.

P.S. Raymour and Flaningan, Macys, La-z-boy, Jennifer convertibles ....

Crate and barrel has lovely couches, but maybe out of your price range. Jennifer Con. is more of what your looking for and contemporary, but I'm not sure of their quality. Definetly a step up from Ikea.

If you like antiques or vintage, lots of the old sofas are built very sturdy and you get more charm out of them. Resale is also beter on those. I've seen some very nice ones with new fabric and padding at the stores on Atlantic also the brooklyn flea.

We just bought a couch we absolutely love at Door Store (weird name for a furniture store) at 475 Atlantic Avenue. They had a lot of good choices for <$1000

Jennifer's isn't bad. It can take a beating.

I agree except that their pull out couches are not as well made as their regular ones.

I am trying to find a couch now. I agree that Jennifer is better than Ikea. My last couch was a Jennifer leather floor model and it was CHEAP. I would avoid the Jennifer pullouts as they weigh several tons for real.

I actually looked on craigslist a few days ago and seem to be leaning towards these "clik clak bed" things. I don't want another huge bulky thing like the Jennifer again. These are real cute, modern, nice design, comfy and microfiber and less than 500. Look on brooklyn craiglsist furniture and you will see several ads. I think the place with the really nice ones is futonsRus or something.
