Subject: what's the story with circles?

the windows are still covered in paper.

but...

i was in bay ridge over the weekend and i saw two circles restaurants, one with the same awning as the one here, and one that says "the original"... (i went by "our" circles, it also says "the original". i thought that their name came from the fact they're on the circle. silly me.

The name Circles comes from the type of bread that the restaurants use - pita - which is circular. The original Circles, I'm pretty sure, was the one at the Junction (Flatbush and Nostrand) - it closed in the 80's but many other Circles opened in different areas of Brooklyn since then.

you may want to check with Obamanut, who at one time was employed at Circles and may be able to advise if the Bay Ridge and PPW restaurants were related

I heard a similar bar / restaurant would be opening there soon. It’d be under new management and have a different name.

Hopefully it won't suck as hard as Circles did. Such a great location
