Subject: Dumbest thing you've done lately

Fellow Brooklynians, be the FAIL you wish to see in this world.

With some scientific effort, the following are the empirical results of this morning's experiment:

Probability of making a mess with a 2-mug coffee maker with 2 mugs of water poured in and only one side/cup selected: 100%

***edited to add the following update:
A listener by the name of Schrödinger dialed in to mention that I could drop those odds to 50% by merely placing the coffee maker inside a box for the experiment. Thanks for the tip!
***

Okay, on to you now.

What have you dumb for me lately? [sic]

I put a Coke in the freezer to cool faster and then I forgot about it. It exploded.

Drano - an episode of Mythbusters that aired recently compared various methods of cooling a six-pack from room temperature down to a lovely frosty beverage temp, and the one that won out by far was by submerging the cans in salt + ice + water, lowering the melting point. Cooled an entire 6-pack to 36 degrees in 5 minutes flat.
results from that episode wrote: Results (after 5 minutes):
    ice: 57 degrees
    ice water: 44 degrees
    salt water: 35.9 degrees
    freezer: 55 degrees
    fridge: 60 degrees

    Final results: * Ice + water + salt: 5 minutes * Ice + water: 15 minutes * Freezer: 25 minutes * Ice: 30 minutes * Fridge: 40+ minutes
Kind of like the old ice cream churners, with the icy salt brine that cools it as you stir.

    Science at work for you!

Someone told me baby carrots were an actually KIND of carrot and I believed them. Only for like 2 seconds, and I was slighly intoxicated, but I'll never hear the end of "Carmen going to the baby carrot farm."

    doh.

I was paying for something at Coney Island today and instead of handing one of those sum bitches 6 one dollar bills , I handed them 5 one dollar bills and a $20 dollar bill. Oooh , and whoever it was didn't try to give it back. That's fucked up , cuz I wouldn't do that shit to anyone. I wish people would be more honest when it comes to things like that.

That's not SO dumb. Better now than waddling around ready to pop in this heat, I'd think. It wasn't too hot to have s-e-x, now was it, missy? :safe:

In rushing out of the house today I went to call the office to tell them I would be a few minutes late and realized I had put the home phone in my purse instead of my cell.

Forgot my car was double parked yesterday (because I got a call from a client, to be fair) for street cleaning and consequentially got it towed. I am an asshole and now out almost $350 between towing and the ticket.

on my way home from work, after horrid amounts of Lincoln Tunnel traffic I was so damn anxious to just get back home that while walking to the fair control turnstiles at 42nd St I just walked right into it without even thinking to get out my Metrocard to swipe it. I had to step back and just stand there knowing a few hundred people just saw me look like I've never been to NYC and thought the subway was free. Then I went home and got drunk with my friend. So it worked out.

I do so many dumb things in the coarse of an average day that it's hard to keep count. Have done both Stacey and Sweet Tea's dumb things--more than once?
Today...frosty beer in oven and casserole in freezer. Just kidding, but if it happened, it'd be typical.
