hunting the wily red velvet

I've been on a mission of sorts: seeking out red velvet cake. This is my Google Map of red velvet cake locations: http://preview.tinyurl.com/brooklynredvelvet

Have I missed any? I'm still not 100% sold on the best in the area. I end up liking wither the frosting or the cake, but never both in the same slice/cupcake. Looking at my map, you'll see that I tried Cake Man Raven (the seemingly de facto #1 choice), and recall not being totally won over. I think the cake was a bit light on flavor, if I recall correctly. The pecans on the side were a great touch, though.

So.. anyone have any other places to check out? Opinions on the best? Bueller? :)

You got all the ones I know of (any many more)... just out of curiousity, which is your favorite - I am a huge Cake Man Raven fan, but haven't had RV from many places.

Some of those places will have the same cakes...like i know that ozzie's doesn't bake theirs. i forget who the supplier was when i worked there, but it could've been cake man raven.

Try North Carolina Country Kitchen restaurant on Atlantic and Saratoga and Mrs. Maxwell's bakery also on Atlantic (you'll have to Google that one, I don't know the cross streets)

Connecticut Muffin started selling red velvet cake slices. I haven't tried them yet so I cannot vouch for them. I know that the Pritchards Square and Cortelyou Road Ct Muffs are peddling the red velvet; not sure if the 7th Avenue one has it though...

Possibly the most compelling reason to lobby for WALMART in Brooklyn is their RED VELVET Twinkies. Sometimes they're still warm in the box!
