city-wide metrocard machine problems today

This hasn't been confirmed by anyone other than two of my co-workers (one commuting from uptown Manhattan, the other from Park Slope), so take it with a grain of salt, but just in case...from what I've been told, metrocard machines are charging you when you try to buy a metrocard with a credit/debit card, but not giving you the metrocard.

She (coworker) called up MTA, and they said they're aware of the problem today, and they will have to wait to see if it works itself out (?!), and you won't be able to get a refund for 3-5 days.

Supposedly, cash will work fine, though.

Saw two people @ the 4th Ave/9 St M/R station this morning complaining to the booth clerk about this. No idea it was citywide....
