cops at G stop at fulton st

i've been noticing cops every now and then patrolling/standing guard at the entrance to the G train stop at south portland and lafayette.

has anyone noticed any activity that warrants such police presence?

I haven't seen any crime but I certainly welcome any and all police presence in terms of neighborhood patrols.

this am at 7:20am, saw a cop patrolling the platform of the manhattan bound C train also..
