Had a blast meeting you guys at Riis Park. What amazing weather! If you have not checked out the beach yet, do so.

Where did you wind up afterwards?

I took my crew to Prospect Park yesterday at 5:30 and it was packed with multiople events. Not fun for cycling at all :(

Do we have any idea where we are going next?

We went to this place called the Wharf on the bay side of the water. It was beautiful, the food was pretty good (I caught myself dreaming about that damn french dip, PM! So good), rode back to the beach passing through the very happy (aka-gay) section, sat our weary butts on the sand for a while, and then made our way back.

I was thisclose to taking the train home, but I'm glad you guys convinced me to continue on the run. I'm exhausted today, but my body doesn't hurt. Hey maybe I'm in better shape than I thought!

Nice to meet you too, Sis. Apologies about my crankiness...

No apologies necessary. Like I said, I had a great time.

Next time I will go to the Wharf with all of you.

Yeah, was lots of fun, and the Wharf turned out to be a good move. I hadn't been there in about two years, and have hardly been there much before then, so I wasn't sure what we were in for (you know, being in Rockaway and all...). But it was really relaxing to sit right on the water with lots of space and eat some decent food & drinks under the shade of a tarp.

Next time, I'll suck it up and just wear some sunscreen.

FYI, every Sunday in July and August, the Five Borough Bike Club does a ride from GAP entrance of Prospect Park to one of the Rockaways beaches. They meet at 10am and the pace is very forgiving if you are not a hard-core cyclist[/url]
