Good Footing Adventure, on 7th Avenue between 2nd and 3rd streets, or Modell's, across from the Atlantic Center.

You can try DSW at the Atlantic Center. I bought a pair of waterproof Timberlands there.

No, no no! Tents and Trails is the best outdoor store in New York and is well worth getting out of the hood. I'm one of the most brooklyncentric people I know but would make an exception for this one. The staff makes this store awesome.

Yes to Triangle Sports. If they don't have it, they'll get it.

This wasn't the question, but Danner boots are my favorites. According to their website, FINEST OUTDOOR SPORTS, 161 68 ST, BROOKLYN, NY 11220 is the closest retailer.

I second that. they are the real deal. probably easier to get to on the 1/9 2/3 than trekking across the slope.

Tents & Trails is a very cool place, literally JAM PACKED full of STUFF! Thanks for reminding me about it! I work a few blocks away and haven't been there in a couple of years. They have some weird hours though. Sometimes they close at 6 which is a bit rough for working stiffs.

    Here's their actual website http://www.tenttrails.com/.
