New Restaurant on Grand Ave/Prospect Place: The Spot

I have been trying the restaurants around Prospect Heights and the best one I have found, by far, is The Spot on the corner of Grand Ave and Prospect Place. It has gourmet food at reasonable prices, and right now they are offering a great special where you can get a free drink when you order anything off the menu. My mother has been in town and we have been eating there every day. We try other places but none of them have the same value for the dollar. If you are a real foodie but like places that are still true to the spirit of the neighborhood, try this place!! I was suspicious because of the words "American Bistro" on the sign, but it's not a fried chicken & french fries kind of place like the Tavern on Dean. This is really top quality food with great service and even outdoor seating. The best dishes that we have had have been the Tilapia and the Artichoke salad.

The wait staff is also amazing and very friendly. Ask to meet the chef, Frank, if you come by. He is fantastic.

Yeah, no doubt about it.

Almost makes me want to post negatively about the place, but alas, I haven't even been there so it wouldn't really be fair.

for what it's worth, the spot generally does look to be reasonably full of happy people when i walk by....
