Frank Torre Place?

East 2nd street has been renamed Frank Torre Place for a few years. I would assume that’s named after Joe Torre’s older brother, but I’ve never heard anything about that Frank Torre living around here. I guess it could be a different Frank Torre. Does anyone know the story?

I did not hear that they did. I would guess they both cut their baseball teeth at the Parade Ground. When is Windsor Terrace going to do something to commemorate Isaac Asimov whose parents' candy store was on the corner of Windsor Place and 10th Ave.? (so I've heard)

No, Joe and Frank Torre both learned to play baseball at the field in Marine Park. They grew up on avenue T, right down the street from those baseball fields.

East 2nd st by Church ave is nowhere near Marine Park. And usually they name streets after people who died, but Frank Torre is still alive. So maybe this street is named after a different Frank Torre?
