I need to take my 12 year old son for an eye exam and was wondering if anyone can recommend a local optometrist nearby or any of the adjoining 'hoods.

    When my previous doctor stopped taking my insurance I switched to Dr. Parkin. Really, nice guy. Explained everything fully, step by step. I thoroughly recommend him.

    I'm too late. But I'd like to chime in for Dr. Parkin as well. He sent me home with pictures of my retinas! And Yusef helped me pick cute glasses.

    I highly rec Dr Gerald Wintrob, on 8th Ave close to Flatbush.

    He's a holistic eye doctor, and at least half his patients are children- he has a great reputation for catching things that may cause problems later. He's great w kids, and has a waiting room w toys, etc.

    Another vote for Dr. Parkin -- he's great and his staff is lovely as well.
