Custom Guitar Shop

About a year ago I passed a newly opened custom guitar workshop somewhere in Boerum Hill, and I've been trying to figure out where it was because I want to get a guitar setup and he seemed like the dude to do it.

Thing is, I can't remember where it was, and think maybe it closed so I've been searching in vain.

I believe it was somewhere within the following region:
btw 5th and Nevins and btw Pacific and Baltic

Does anybody know the place I'm talking about? Is it gone? Is it still there?
Is there another place nearby that'll do guitar setups, besides GC?

I thought I heard of one in Gowanus somewhere on 3rd Ave just north or south of Union.

My husband goes to a guy on State Street, bet. Flatbush & 3rd. I don't know the exact address, but from what I remember, it's the only store front on the block. I think his name is Gary. Used to be a tattoo shop.

    Found the info:
    Fried Guitars
    516 State St, Brooklyn, NY
    Phone: (718) 855-2504

On Atlantic between State and Boerum Place there is a custom guitar shop. Not new. Beautiful acoustic and spanish guitars visible through the storefront window. Do you plan to shop around? Might be worth a look if that is the kind of guitar you're looking for.

Fried Guitars! That's it! It's just a couple blocks out of the region I thought it was in, which explains why I thought it had vanished.

    Thanks for the other suggestions.

Soundfreak, does your husband recommend Gary? At least as far as setups are concerned?

Yes, it's Gary's shop. He's the only person there. Yes, set ups, he also does custom work. Gary put a locking tremelo system in an Epiphone for my husband and new pick ups on a few others. He also makes his own brand of guitars. Really nice guy, too.

I passed by what looked like a custom guitar shop on Atlantic between Boerum Place and Court St.

That was the original location of Brooklyn Tattoo which is on Smith Street now. Gary used to be at the Musicians General store on Court street. I know someone who uses him and says he's great.

Wondering if the OOP ever went to Fried Guitars. Looking for someplace to do a setup.
