Car broken in...again

So last night my car was broken into for the second time in 3 months. On Underhill btw Dean and Pacific. Must be the Baby on Board sun shade that is so tempting!

Should I file a Police Report? Does this help our cause?
Is it time to bite the bullet and get a parking space?

Not looking to get flamed for having a car.....just looking for some advice.

I wouldn't park my car so close to Atlantic.

What kind of car? What was stolen?

What about not locking the car? Somebody wants to look, at least they don't have to BREAK in.

Agree with OTB. I noticed again today how empty that area still feels, and is probably more so at night.

Did anything get stolen?

also, out of state plates can be a problem! (if you have them, that is....)

always, always file a police report! sometimes, some cops may try to dissuade you (because they don't feel like doing the paperwork and/or having the precinct crime stats go up). don't cave and insist.

plus, you need the police report if you make an insurance claim.

Thanks for the feedback. We have a Subaru Forester(total familymobile) with NY plates.

They left a little blood on the arm rest that they yanked off. I was thinking of going to the precinct this weekend to file a report. Maybe they can test the blood maybe they will laugh at me...I don't know. Hoping it will help improve patrols or something..........

It's your car's fault for looking scared. If it looked confident while sitting there, it wouldn't have been broken into.

haaa @ its your cars fault . i just laughed so hard for some reason. but really its not much you can do except change where you park at. and try and keep things out of sight. so many derelicts dwell in that area where you park at. and petty stuff is good to them. either way sorry to hear that happened.

So someone is using your car for parts. That's nice.

Wonder if it has something to do with all those cut-rate street mechanics who run on Atlantic. The NYT did a story on them a week or two ago. Anyway, certainly doesn't help you, and you certainly should disregard my advice against locking in vehicle.

What? Why would you ever leave you car unlocked in NY city? You might find a homeless person sleeping in your car in the morning...or someone might leave you a present.

And if someone does want to have a look on the inside, i'd like for them to actually make an effort rather just leaving my doors open. And i would like to know if someone has been in my car.

What? Why would you ever leave you car unlocked in NY city? You might find a homeless person sleeping in your car in the morning...or someone might leave you a present.

Actually, my ex had a Jeep with a soft top. Rather than have people slit it to get in, she left the doors unlocked.

She had a stock chrylser casette deck and kept nothing of value in the car.

The worst thing that ever happened was that homeless people would occasionally sleep in it and it would smell afterward. Her solution was to drive wityh the top off when that happened.

That's fine, if you want to pay to get that "effort" repaired.
