    most frustrating were the many times i had a first impression that i discarded on the basis of its being based on nothing, only to find out it was correct.

    funny old thing, the brain. knows stuff, but doesn't like to tell.

    34. And a bunch of annoying near-misses, like Swiss for Austrian, Portugal for Spain, Canadian for US, Edinburgh for Glasgow, York for Birmingham, Adelaide for Perth. But Capetown and Wellington were really clear.
