New C-Town at 25th St.

Just wanted to share that over the weekend I noticed signs up at the National Market at 4th Ave. and 25th St. that say C-Town is coming there in the fall, with 1,500 new square feet of space. I imagine they are referring to the second story that they've been building for a while.

Very exciting to have a bigger, and probably better, grocery store there. I hope they don't fire the checkers, though, because they are very nice women.

Yes, if you go in there the young guy at the Boars Head counter will give you the full skinny. They were waiting 2.5 years for permits. Upstairs will just be food storage, and downstairs they are totally renovating bit by bit. We just moved to the neighborhood and I think it will be nice to have a solid grocery store right there by the train stop. Hopefully they will meet their deadline of late October.

I hope it will be up to par with the other C-Towns. Right now that supermarket is awful.

yes, there certainly are NO grocery stores in this hood and this one is borderline disgusting. I don't expect much. Just a regular clean grocery store

I am so excited about this new C-Town.  I have the owners email address and I will try to get him to write a bit about it. I know he was reading the blogs. I told him about it a few weeks ago.  There is going to be a fabulous produce section with GRADES A and B. While I spend about $80. a week in Rssman's, I am so tired of going down there three times a week to get fruit and veggies, as we all know they rot so fast.I know all the staff at National is staying and the owner is looking for a dairy person (manager) and a meat (manager.) I heard they are targeted to open November, I surely hope so!

Wow, that really is exciting! I love the National for its cheap prices, but I don't buy meat or produce there because I just don't trust it. And you're so right about Rossman's--very inexpensive but you have to eat it fast!

I'm glad they are keeping the staff. They are very much a part of our little neighborhood.

That's so cool. I am looking forward to the opening. The vegi place on 3rd av. and 25th st. is nice but the way to be there (I have to walk 3rd avenue) is just pure aweful. Ctown in 9th street is ok but uphill.

Anyone have any updates on the C-town? It doesn't quite look like it will be opening any time soon and there are no fliers or anything posted to the construction site announcing any dates.
