Come and drink with Roger and Sneaky at Soda, best tailor is on 5th ave between Flatbush and Dean, they also make custom Suits, pants, vest and inexpensive. A nice tailor made suit will cost you about 500 instead of 2500 at Lord Willy's or Duncan Quinn..

But Lord Willy's and Dunca really fucking make the best suits. Other than Boetang's at Givenchy , i would with go Tom Ford! because my friend is the tailor there and he is fucking amazing!!

If you just need pants hemmed, I have gotten strong recommendations in favor of the African store on Flatbush between Prospect and St. Marks (on the good side of Flatbush, of course).

G.O. Hussey on Washington and St. Johns (ish) is fantastic for all of your tailoring needs. Hussei completely deconstructed a pea coat for me and rebuilt it for a ridiculously fair price -- and did a fabulous job. If he can do that, he can hem your pants.

I would say just make sure you have a timeline agreed upon, and IN WRITING with G.O.Hussey. I heard good things about them, and sent a friend over who had to be in a wedding in another state, and needed her bridesmaid dress majorly altered. He kept putting her off, and she finally got the dress back the evening of her departure. Needless to say, she was incredibly stressed out about the whole thing, since she was in the wedding party.

The dress was done well, but I think he has time management issues.

Excellent point. I think he's a staff of one (or has one other person helping him part-time), so you do need to follow up with him and expect an extra day or two (or five) for major work. I'm hoping this isn't the case for a simple hem, but you never know.

Caree Cleaners on Vanderbilt near the Met did a decent job with major alterations to my husbands suit. They were pretty fast as well.

I really like G.O.Hussey too. For a hem it should be quick...2-3 days most. I just recently had a pair of pants patched and he said I could have them the same day if I wanted them.

I've been going to Tony at Mi Mortuno (sp?) on Washington and have been happy with his alteration work (mostly hemming pants and the sleeves on suit jackets).

What does G.O. Hussey charge for hemming?
