unless you want your car broken into. some jerk/group of jerks have been smashing windows and stealing GPS devices all summer. it's to the point where some nights the amount of broken glass in the morning suggests more than one burglary. i've talked with a lot of people on the block; many (including me) have called the cops after witnessing a car break-in from their window this summer, but so far, to no avail. it's really starting to creep me out. i don't have a car on the block, but i don't like the idea of a criminal, even a relatively small-time and nonviolent one (though he does have something he uses to smash the windows) just walking around at night with impunity.

Agreed. I always see broken glass on that street.

You should bait them by putting something valuable in the car and waiting for them to break in like these cops did.

Deal. I say we set the trap tonight!

(We're using your car and electronics as bait, right?)

Just called the police on Saturday morning about witnessing a break-in from my window. President between 4th and 5th.

Gave the police a description and our building has a security camera out front. Hopefully something good comes out of it.

It sucks for sure. And car owners can help themselves by not using the windshield mount gps. Even when you take the gs off, the mount is still there, signaling that most likely the gps is under the seat or something. A friend had hers stolen in this manner and now uses a dash bean bag thing instead.

Yes, this is true. They look for the tell-tale heart. Er, tell-tale little circle from the suction cup.

I've also seen a lot of broken glass recently on 11th between 8th and the park. Looks like it's not isolated to one block.
