Bushwick Ave and De Kalb

How is this area? I'm looking at an apartment there, wondering what you guys think.

I'm moving in a few blocks south of there (Menahan and Evergreen) next month. I've been spending a lot of time riding around the area on my bike and checking out bushwickbk.com. From what I gather, if you're used to somewhere like Prospect Heights or Crown Heights, its similar in grocery shopping and safety. However, the advantage it has over PH or CH is the art and music scene that's growing rapidly in Bushwick.
