Apologies to the Sellers of 436 Sterling PL.

Seriously, it really gets my goat when people tack up advertising on trees. For crying out loud, there is a reason that people don’t do this. I came across an agent doing this in the midst of the final marketing push before the open house.

I want to offer my personal apologies to the owners of 436 Sterling for subverting their whole marketing efforts by tearing down two flyers that were tacked up on the trees on Underhill.

Long story short, I told him that taping flyers to lamppost doesn’t set precedence like thumbtacking to a tree. We had words. And since I’ve lived in Brooklyn for a mere 15 years not 42 like the agent, I had no right to tell him what to do. In a nutshell he asked me for my address so he can tell the sellers the reason the open house didn’t resemble a mosh pit was because of my efforts. I provided it to him and we bid each other good day.

Yep, just color me strident.

sory, i'm dumb and ignorant, but why is it bad to tack stuff to trees. does it kill the trees? or you just think that no one looks at flyers on trees?

Not the first time, or the second, but over and over will damage the bark of the trees and make them susceptible to disease.

On another note, it's nice to have something freestanding in the neighborhood that doesn't have advertising on it. I could care less about advertising on lampposts, mailboxes, slow moving old people etc...

    Plus it's illegal.

Thats fucked, thanks for sticking up for the trees. Did you get the Brokers name? I'd be happy to put in a call.

damn, what a jerk. I'm glad you took them down and told the broker what to do with his flyers, though I think encouraging him to shove the thumbtacks up his ass would have been really fun.

I'm glad you were able to speak with the agent directly about this and not have the complaint just go off into the DailyHeights either. The residents of 436 Sterling had nothing to do with these flyer postings. I've got the agent's card (I'm the building's board prez), so I'll give him a call.

I would encourage those looking to buy to check out the building. There is a large two bedroom on the top floor (with roof deck) and a smaller one bedroom on the first floor, both currently for sale. It's a great building full of great people who are loving living in PH.

Your first paragraph should refer people to look for the second in the classifieds, which is where it belongs.

    Respectfully,

    No surprises there.

I knew that was coming a split-second after I clicked "submit."

Eh, I think the classifieds are for posting things that the poster stands to benefit from financially. Unless sterling2000 is one of the people who's selling the apartments, which I don't think he is, I don't think it's a problem.

To be honest, it looks like a pretty good deal.

(yes, I read what I tear down)

Nope, no financial benefit for me.

    Subject: No Financial Gain

As my neighbor Gus (owner of Tom's & unofficial mayor of our block) likes to say: Sterling Place is a "sterling" block! I think this endorsement may make our building one of the coolest places to live in the hood.

(I have not posted anything on DH since October, so it is with great joy that I can re-enter the fray with this affirmation of my street.)

I'd have ripped the realtor ad down ( or anyones ad - if for stoop sale or whatever other nonsense) from tree or lamppost. And reported the SOB to his boss and filed sanitation complaint on 311.
