hey, we're new to the neighborhood and looking for cool bars/places to hang out that are lax about carding policies. We're juniors at nyu and we're looking to meet some new people. any suggestions would be lovely. thanks!

hey, sorry, I just spent some time abroad and I didn't know how strict they were about carding around here. I was just wondering. Even if, we're just looking for where the main area is to hang out if someone could help us out. thanks.

Having not too long ago been forced to abandon Greenpoint to the teeming coeds, I can grimly confirm they are in fact real.

Is there anyplace that's strict about carding? I think that I've been carded twice since moving to NYC five years ago...

Ok. I'll get bitched at I'm sure. But there's nothing I hate more than going out on a Friday or Saturday night and having the places I frequent teaming with 19 year-old boys and girls being drunk idiots, stealing seats and overall being totally rude.

I've met several nice underage people at these places but they always seem to bring the above-mentioned sort with them on other occasions.

No, I understand. There are lot of unpleasant people, both young and old. But I just moved to this neighborhood and I promise I'm not going to steal your seats and be rude. We're just looking for a cool place to hang out and to meet some nice people. So, I am sorry on behalf of people in my relative age group, but I would really appreciate it if you guys could just be open to helping me out.

Franklin Park is a nice, low key place with some good beers on tap and $4 pints from 4P-7P. I guess it is more Crown Heights then Prospect Heights at St John's and Franklin Ave, but who knows anymore.

Franklin Park, Barette, Soda for sloppiness. Weather Up for pretnsion and mean (if slow) cocktails.

You do realize that by posting the name of such a business
the possibility of a spot check is increased ?

and frankly even if i knew of such a place
i wouldnt publicly post on a bulleting board
for simple concern of some stupid "contributing to the delinquency" charge.

then again, maybe thats the real point ?

Spot check away, I would hope they comply with all applicable statues, ordinances, rules and/or regulations.

Im freakin 34, that didn't really even occcur to me, just pointing to the neighborhood watering holes, didn't read all the way up the thread..

God bless the stars and bars.

Franklin park cards everyone ...post recent bike ride I couldn't get in without one.

    I'm 39.

Maybe I wouldn't have been carded if I was a 19 y/o female NYU student.

My dog was allowed to enter without any difficulty. He's only 6, but he had his lic.

That's surprising. I'm much closer to katy's age then yours, but have never been carded there. Maybe it's my manly beardlet . . .

I'd bet that you could get served at Soda without being carded. It gets crowded and tends to cater to a younger element, so you'd probably blend in well.
