clothing + furniture donation pick-ups?

Hi there,

Is anyone aware of any local charities that do clothing and/or furniture donation pick-ups in our area? I have been trying for days to get Salvation Army on the phone but no luck. I also looked online for other charities but also had no luck with that.

I would be willing to drop off the clothes if it is close enough- but would prefer it they could pick up.

Thanks in advance!

Try listing on Freecycle. I had a few women's shelters send folks by to pick up clothing and they also gave me a receipt for my taxes.

St. Mary's church always puts clothing pickup notices on my door in WT. I don't know where they're actually located, but it might be worth trying to call them

At the gas station on Coney Island Avenue between Beverly Road and Avenue C there are clothing donation boxes.

City Opera Thrift does pick-up, but it has to be good quality stuff: http://www.timeout.com/newyork/venues/gramercy-flatiron/5782/city-opera-thrift-shop

Thanks everyone. I ended up giving away the clothes on Freecycle. I'm really glad to know about the clothing donation box on Coney Island Ave., too. I'll be able to use that in the future. Thanks again.

Please be very carful about these clothing donation boxes. They often just go to depress other poor economies undercutting local business people
