Traditional Irish Breakfast
saltdalt
Anyone know of a good place to get a traditional Irish breakfast in the south slope area? I just moved to the area and am looking for a good place to start my Saturdays and Sundays. Thanks.

Yeah, real nice. Don't get me Irish up or else I'll start with the south-of-the-border jokes! -
anastasia beaverhausenOh, that was cruel of you. I was hoping for pudding with my whiskey. Damn it. -
MODHee hee , it was a joke. O'Conner's is beloved Irish Park Slope bar. It's been here since the neighborhood was predominantly Irish. No food unfortunately.
You may want to check out ChipShop on Atlantic. Black Sheep on Bergen, I think serves lunch, but not breakfast. None of these are purely Irish, but you might find a few things you like. -
saltdaltThat was pretty unnecessary actually. -
lo keeChipShop is really good.
Not sure if its what OP had in mind, but it is really really good. -
MODHey, that was a joke. You're lucky carmen didn't respond. She's been known to kill newbies  :P
Try checking on chowhound, they might have some recs for manhattan restaurants. -
saltdaltWow! Yes, let's chastise the guy who just joined a message board for the simple fact that he just joined a message board? Do people really still do this? Lurking in anonymity is a pretty strong drug these days. Hope you kick it. Good luck. Hopefully Carmen doesn't OD.
Thanks for the real recs. -
anastasia beaverhausenSalt - relax. I'm 100% first generation Irish and I wasn't offended by it. Geez, it was a joke. And as a relative newbie myself, you just take it with a grain of...well, of salt. -

and malt vinegar... mum.... I'm dying for some chips now! -
anastasia beaverhausenGod. Damn. It. I'm on a diet, I'm effin' hungry and I will seriously kill someone for a fucking chip. Just one chip. Point me in your enemy's direction and I'll kill 'em!! -
saltdaltlol! Yeah, I'm not offended by Irish jokes. I'm not even Irish. I enjoy giving people a hard time to people who enjoy giving people a hard time. Notice the paradox. Thanks for getting involved though. Good stuff. -
voodoonycNot in the South Slope, but I've had friends rave about the Irish breakfast at Ceol on Smith and Warren. -
anastasia beaverhausenDoes this mean you don't have any chips? BASTARD!!!!! -
saltdaltI'm on the prowl. -
hamiltonyou may want to try Eamonn's on Montague St. they have brunch on Sat & Sun. -
lancianoI second CEOL's irish breakfast. it's not in the slope, but it's a nice trip on the B75. -
shishkabyep, nothing in South Slope, unfortunately. and i do hear nice things about Ceol, so i think you have to board the bus, as lanciano suggests -
rawYou can get a greasy spoon breakfast at any diner on 7th Avenue between Berkeley Place and 9th Street, like Park Cafe. I'm not sure the food will taste as bad as it does in the U.K., but you might get lucky. -
ddaChip Shop has great English Breakfast - meat and vegetarian, reasonable prices...Check it out - way yummy! -

ok I know nothing about anything UK related, but I like a block from chip shop. Does that give me some skreet cred!? -
carmenok and also the irish are not UK. I learned this from a very militant irish friend. but whatevs. -
fluxwhat is an irish breakfast? -
MODA Guinness with a shot of Jameson. -
scarlettha! No. It's like potatoes in some form, eggs with smoked salmon, sausages in three forms including blood sausages, some sweet breads like scones with jam and irish soda or brown bread with butter. Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!! -
pastoraliaChip Shop is as close as you'll get in the South Slope but, sadly, no blood pudding. Good bangers though from Myers of Keswick in the West Village. -
scarlettbangers and mash always sounded so naughty to me -
