Godawful burning-rubber smell -- anyone else smell it?

Around 5th St/5th Av. I don't hear sirens, though, which makes me think it might not be local. Really a disturbing, headache-inducing smell that's penetrating through closed windows. Anyone know what/where it is?

I was having dinner at Belleville at that time and didn't notice any burning odor.

Sorry it smells like one of my generic prophylactics.

Well, it's gone now... lasted for a little over an hour. It was definitely coming from outside, because the smell was much stronger when I went out. Even my 2-year-old noticed it. Maybe it was a warehouse fire in Jersey or somewhere, and when the wind shifted the smell went away. Who can say?

Maybe another Access-A-Ride went up in smoke.
