Great pics ! You say they dont make the canon g7 anymore, do you know what the equivelant would be? I am looking for a new camera, and your pics are beautiful, although I'm sure because you obviously know a thing or two about taking pictures ! Can you recomend a good camera similar to yours?

I believe the latest version of the G7 is the Canon G10. If you are looking for a point & shoot that is one of the best, the amount choices can be overwhelming for point & shoot. I don't use them much and wouldn't know what to recommend but the G10 is likely a great all in one package. You can also search ebay for older G series models. If you are ambitious and would like a digital SLR and the time and money to invest you can't go wrong with any of the entry level models from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, or Sony out in the market now.

I definitely think my next camera will be a canon. Its the brand everyone recommends. My camera is one from when digital cameras first came out, its ancient ! and the pics dont come out very good. Thanks for the info.

I personally use a Sony DSLR and my wife uses a Leica point & shoot (equivalent with a Panasonic). The brand is not as important though as what you will be using your camera to do and what size and cost of camera makes sense for you. I wouldn't necessarily just buy a Canon because everyone says, although they make many fine cameras. Do some research - dpreview.com or cnet.com I would recommend, especially dpreview.com
Figure out which features are most important to you and then go to some place like b&h where the salespeople are well informed and will help you purchase the camera that is right for you. Stay away from Best Buy and those places unless you know specifically what you want before going there, don't let them talk you into something else.
