I saw all the police action on my way home tonight.

It's unfortunate. But the police response was a bit much for a stabbing. Multiple ambulances, helicopters, undercover and regular marked patrols.

it sounds like it the guy will die.... death by stabbing likely makes one as dead as death by gunshot.

I say "likely" because I'm not an MD.

While I'm sure we all love urban flavah, is there really "too much" police response for violent crime (especially MURDER)

The mass police response is probably due to the changing of the neighborhood. As a long time resident of D.P., in the past when there has been a stabbing, murder, etc. the response has not been this significant.

    Just sayin'

I probably agree with your cynical take... but, at the same time, one would hope an overwhelming police response is what happens when violent crime takes place in ANY neighborhood.

Crime has gone down CONSIDERABLY across the entire city... including, and some could say, especially in Flatbush. There are no neighborhoods that crime is "acceptable," but I'm glad I live in a neighborhood where the police react this way... and crime isn't "tolerated."

Yes, I am cynical since I have seen the neighborhood change so much. We will see if the police response remains "consistent".

Also, this was not a random act of violence.
