Park Slope Food Co-Op.........worth it or not?
tony balls
and i'm not looking to be convinced, because I couldnt care less about joining. I'm just curious.
In an area with a big population of independantly owned stores with specialty and organic foods, what is the draw? Is it really cheaper? Or is it the community aspect that draws people to it?

Of course, if you're not a member you can't witness this for yourself!
I really wish that they'd let a non-member like me wander through and look at the store's contents. That would convince me much more than being told "it rocks. Go to a meeeting". (not referring to people on the boards, but rather people I know in Real Life [tm].) -

one of your real life member friends can take you in as a guest
as for membership, if you can make the time it's great.
if not, not so great.
there are a thousand other world-o-bargains grocery-related shopping excursions you can enjoy in Brooklyn. Like Sahadi's on Atlantic Ave, M&I International Food in Brighton Beach, or the Hong Kong Market in Sunset Park. -

there are already so many members, over 10,000.. it's not like they are looking for more; but if you want a tour, you can go during one of the scheduled ones. ask at the front desk or office or something.
