Hi all. I'm new to the board. I'm thinking of taking a place on Union St between 5th and 6th avenues. I work off of the 42nd street stop and was wondering if anyone had any idea of how long the commute would be? Is it best to take the R at Union St and transfer to the N or Q... or walk to 7th ave and take the Q strait out? Thanks for your help!

I would walk to the Q at 7th Ave. Fast commute.

Slow and steady. Thanks to the F. But, I've never not made it home eventually.
the Q rocks...I'm envious of those who have it close by.

Don't discount the D which will leave you at Bryant Park. Had a friend who worked near Parson's and could take the R to Atlantic Pacific and hop the N or the D.

I live right near Grand Army, and I take the Q to and from work. My stop is 34th, so it's only one stop before yours. Takes roughly 20 minutes or so once I'm on the train. There's also a 50-50 chance of grabbing a seat on the way into Manhattan after people get off on the first or second stop.

There were 10-15 empty seats on the N train this morning during rush hour. I think it probably was due to the fact that there was vomit all over the seats and floor. Really gross.

Oh i'm so sorry. That was probably from me. I had some Manhattan clam chowder for breakfast and I forgot that I usually get motion sickness when riding the subway. Sure enough, while swinging around a loop in the tunnel, I erupted all over the seats, floor and windows. I tried to clean it up, but the one hanky I had, just wasn't enough. Please accpet my sincere apology.
