Ipod to radio

I use one of those adapters to play my ipod thru my car's radio. I never seem to find a frequency that works well. What frequency have you found works well around our area?

I got the one you use through a tape player. It's been so much better than any of the frequency ones I have found

Yeah, the frequency one sucks. I actually considered buying a new car just so I could plug my ipod in. Then I realized how pathetic that was and bought a cheap pair of battery operated ipod speakers and just use those in the car.

I did this. It was worth it. It's all about the ipod, for me.

I didn't mean to sound obnoxious, but yeah, the frequency thing pretty much sucks. The tape in the cassette thingy works a lot better.....

And Ana's suggestion is a good one too. I just got a set of Swan speakers that plug directly into your ipod and they rock. Good for the beach and stuff.

A lot of car stereos have miniplug inputs on their faceplates. You can get a 2-foot male-male miniplug cable and plug it in with that. It's a great set-up.

Buying a not extremely expensive car stereo to replace the factory one, and a few speakers, might improve sound, too. Installing one just takes a few hours, and you might get to remove your dashboard, which offers you the disconcerting but entertaining realization that your car is merely a machine behind all that vinyl. I always thought mine had a soul.

the radio one is just really tough around here. my old band got a new tour van that didnt have a tape deck so i got one of those FM devices and it just plain sucks in the NY metro area. Out in Iowa on I 80? Pristine reception. There's just too many radio stations brodcasting low range frequencies around here to get a clear signal.

    What are "tapes"?

Wait. Are you being facetious, as in "I'm so young, I've never heard of cassette tapes" or are you actually asking about the contraption?

For some reason I think I'm being mocked here. :?

Clever clever girl. It was so subtle that.... Oh wait. I forgot what I was going to say. I need my meds.

BACK to the ipod. Mini-jack is really the way to go. If your car doesn't have one (OP - what ride are you pimpin', by the way?) then get a radio that has one. Worth it. Also the cigarette lighter power source cord works great as well. Xmas is comin - great gifts!

2008 Honda Fit, with baby seat! Thanks for the input, but gonna do the ipod thingy installed by the dealer that comes thru the radio. Gotta have my Billy Bragg, ya know!

If you're driving a 2008 car I would be shocked if it didn't already have a mini-jack somewhere, turn the radio to AUX and you'll have your Billy. You can get the cable (same size plug at both ends) at any electronics store for like 7 or 8 bucks...
