Repaving streets in the slope

Is it just me, or was 9th ave between 6th and 7th perfectly fine and not in need of repaving? wtf...it seems like more and more I see DOT crews tearing up roadway which is still in good shape and putting down new asphalt. Meanwhile, certain streets go neglected and are just rife with potholes, etc...

I jog down the entire length of 9th nearly every day and I have seen no reason, whatsoever for that roadway to be repaved...my tax dollars at work. good grief.

...don't even get me started on the street cleaners which are completely ineffective when it comes to leaves...

Sanitation will not sweep the leaves. The homeowners are requires to bag leaves including 18" into the street and placed out for regular pick up. I personally believe they should be set on fire, in the street, under the van parked forever in "my" parking space.

I don't think it is FIOS because they are redoing the whole surface...although I could be wrong. Same thing happening to Carroll St.

    and yes, 9th st...sorry.

I don't understand 9th Street either. If the DOT holds true to form, they'll repave, and a few months later will tear it up again to lay new sewer pipe. After the pipes are in and the street is repaved again, it will be torn up a third time for something else.

the city re-paves streets on a regular basis, on a rotating schedule.

Yeah like Marty Markowitz cares. Notice since he got elected he hasn't hosted that nice wine party in Prospect Park that he did every year.

FIOS isn't coming around here any time soon (at least 2010 or later). Verizon is focusing on the peripheral parts of the borough where the lines are above ground first. Only later will it come to PS/PH. It will be like when cable TV first came to Brooklyn. The areas where the lines are below ground will be last.

i love how the citys "cutting back" on spending but repaving streets and creating stupid lil islands in the middle of streets that dont need em is priority

If they only repaved PPW from the circle down to the highway! It is so busted up that every time we take it, we are afraid that either we will loose our shock absorbers, or I will give birth. :bounce:
