carmenwhen this happened to me i turned the computer off, unplugged it and did surgery with an unbent paperclip.
I don't know if I would recommend this method, but it worked. -
caaahyokoSpeaking of paperclips: There may be a little hole near the drive just big enough to stick a paperclip into. That's the manual eject. I'm not sure if the ibook G4 has it, but if you go to Apple's support site and search for "ibook G4 manual cd eject" that should tell you. -
bohumaHave you tried calling the Genius Bar at the Apple store, or the Geek Squad at Best Buy? -
hatemailYou can just try the apple forums as well. -
biffackleyShut laptop down.
As you turn it back on (power button) hold down Command-Option-O-F
At prompt type "eject cd" and hopefully it will come out
type "mac-boot" when you're done
Just had this problem btw my iBook G4 ended up getting the drive replaced... -
ccThanks for the tips, unfortunately this cd won't come out. Even with the Apple Support online suggestions.
I wouldn't mind leaving the cd in there awhile, but I'm afraid I'll wreck the drive since everytime I turn on my computer I can hear it making jarring noises.
Anyway, thanks again[/i] -
bklynpetuniaTtry taking it down to the Mac Support Store on 7th st. btw. 3rd and 2nd ave. They might be able to jimmy it for you. -
