What the hell was up at Soda Saturday night

Yo it was like 10 degrees out w/a 20mph east bound wind, and the place was FREAKING PACKED. Good times, was anyone else there????? Has it been like this a lot recently or is this only a first Saturday of the month deal?

Shoutouts to the DJ for playing Sylvia Strickland's "Your Love", one of my favorite disco tunes of all time

crass or not, i cant resist the urge to mention that the brooklyn museum is not the first image that pops into mind after reading the phrase "first night at the BM"

Weatherup was also pretty crowded Saturday. My first time there. How long has that place been open? A little snobby, but I have to admit the drinks were awesome and the atmosphere was pleasant.

I know this is veering off topic but I have to say the drinks and atmosphere at weather up are great.

the service, however, made me feel like i was on that show punkd

it was so bad they must have been doing it on purpose. and not just me, but the two attractive ladies i was with also (no offense all im saying is that good looking women generally get served faster).

Agreed. It's quite astounding. I realize that it's partly a function of each cocktail being fastidiously prepared, and that that is supposed to be part of the appeal, but it doesn't transfer to times when the bar is busy. Lots of lost revenue from what I can see. I'll note it also doesn't help when the manage and sometimes another employee are standing at the end of the bar observing, rather than perhaps taking orders, filling the simple things like beer or wine requests, etc.

That was my experience, too, at Weather Up, and I've never been back. The cocktail that I had was actually not that great, either. 75% of it was displaced by a large, rectangular bock of ice.

Barrette, Noona, Beast, Sepia, Plan B, anywhere but Weather Up for me.

I have never had a problem with service there after I changed my strategy... ever ever ever... I have accepted the fact that service sucks on a busy night, and plan accordingly (eat + drink enough before I get there; buy drink from the bar & not a waitress, etc.). You can't go there on a night like the 6th and expect your orders to get processed perfectly... ESPECIALLY if you order a whole lot of food and drinks, etc. It's not like the food is a big draw to Soda anyways, the only thing worth eating there are the cheese fries. After they burned my burgers 3 times in a row I figured it was protocol.

It sucks, but you have to work around it. If it's that big of a problem, don't go. I get my drinks, dance, chat a bit and go home... and always enjoy myself
