New to the neighborhood and looking to get my dirty, but otherwise in good shape sofa cleaned. Can anyone reccomend a local business?

I've used Klines before. They did a good job, picked up and delivered.

    Klines Carpets & Upholstery
    (718) 629-0606
    8801 Ditmas Ave
    Brooklyn, NY

See if you can get your hands on a 10% off coupon in the val pack junk mail...

Y'know. I used to hate that thing, until I opened it. The car service coupons are totally worth it.

    I used Fabra-Clean

I've never used anyone else, so I have no comparison, but I have no complaints. They got a very dirty white rug that I inherited nice and clean. They picked it up and brought it back.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I've actually been looking for a valpack recently. I must have gotten dozens of those valpack envelopes at my old place, but not a single one in the last three weeks. That's the thing with junk mail. When you actually need it, it' s never there.

you can get valpak online -- I took a look at it yesterday and didn't find any for rug cleaning that were mentioned here.

If the item isn't really bad - I have rented the industrial steamer from Key Food on 5th Ave (for about $20 per day) and it comes with an upholstery attachment.

Does that really work? How long does it take?

I happen to think it did a good job. I had an ivory colored sofa and it would get gray and dingy every couple of months. It worked great for that. It did a good job on the rugs too. It took about 45 minutes to clean the sofa and it dried overnight. Same thing with the rugs. A little trick I learned was to pretreat my rugs and furniture. I sprayed a little Shout on the sofa and rugs and rubbed it in with a damp sponge and then about 1 hour later used the steam cleaner. Make sure to pre-test any area you try this on. Good luck :)
