Hello -

Anyone have a really good OB/GYN in the area? One who at least pretends to care, has an organized office, and has delivered many babies?

Downtown Women in Soho. Same building as Bliss Spa on Broadway. They're great and I see tons of preggos there.

yes, pls. search the board to find one of the many gyn threads. and if you decide to see dr. fuchs, as some will say is ok and others, like me, will say is a big mistake, please PM me and i'll share my experience with her.

Thanks all...i did do a search but everything seemed old. Had hoped for new updates. but thanks for the tip on Fuchs. Also trying to stay out of Park Slope anyhow...I am in Clinton Hill and work in Manhattan...would be a real pain.

Downtown Women I will check out!

Very good choice- I've been going to them for years and all the doctors and assistants are just top notch. It's modern and hip, with a very relaxed atmosphere. I actually don't mind going for my annual when I go there!

who would go to a gyn named fuchs. sheesh.

My gyn used to be an ob and has delivered many babies but now just does the gyn. She is incredible. I pay full price out of pocket because she is so awesome. She's on the upper east. PM me if you are in that area and want her info.

If you're knocked up, I recommend checking out the hospitals before you fully commit to an OB. Which hospital that you like will take your insurance? Then narrow down the OBs that deliver there and also take your insurance. Interview a few.

Check the park slope parents website as well. There's a lot about it that is unbearable, but it is the place to go for up to date info. Drs. practices seem to change constantly so old threads may not be very helpful.

good luck getting onto the park slope parents board,. you actually have to be a parent to join, and prove it, and it's a little intense over there (from what i've heard. i'm not a parent, so i'm not a member)

Nobody comes to your house and checks birth certificates. You simply email the moderators and tell them you have a kid/are pregnant. They ask for your name, where you live, but I made up a name and gave a vague neighborhood rather than street address 'cause I like a little privacy. You could claim you have a kid to get on, I just don't know why you would. It is a good place to ask about actual experience with OBs.

You can look on the parkslopeparents.com website without joining the listserv....there look under the tab "psp recommends" and you can find all sorts of reviews of health care providers, contractors, stores etc.......it's actually easier than searching the yahoo groups archives for posts on a particular topic.
