I'm sorting out some year end contributions and looking for recommendations for a good, local food charity. I'm leaning towards NYC Food Bank, but curious if anyone has any other suggestions.

City Harvest is kind of like a force multiplier, and also prevents food waste.

I just ran across this today: Food Bank For NYC is currently getting a matching gift, 2-for-1, from the Robin Hood Foundation. So for every dollar you give, they get three. They also have a 4-star rating for 3 years in a row from Charity Navigator, and they're really efficient with low overhead: 96 cents of your dollar goes directly to programs (compared to 87 cents at City Harvest, who I used to support annually)
