are there any garages in the neighborhood (and surrounding area...park slope, clinton hill, fort greene, boerum hill) that do daily/hourly parking? my parents are coming to town and need somewhere to park for the night. can they park on the street, or do they need a permit?

No permit needed on the street, just watch for street cleaning times to avoid a ticket ($45)

guess it's obvious that my car-in-nyc knowledge is pretty spare. street-parking in non-metered areas of chicago requires neighborhood permits. anyway, thanks the heads up.

oh, ok. well, they dont require those here... you can park anywhere on streets, but be aware of the signs that tell what times of what days you cant park there... theyre closed certain times for street cleaning, and theyll give you a big ticket if you leave the car there :)

also, don't park in front of a handicap ramp...it's just a slight dip in the concrete sidewalk in front of buildings. i made that mistake and got slapped a $120 ticket!
