Subject: Just brought the girls back from Kiki's

Just wanted to say they did a GREAT job! Nice local Black owned business and I will definitely bring them back again. Kiki's pet spa on DeKalb and Vanderbilt. Good stuff.

They are dogs. A pitbull and her half golden retriever daughter. I just brought them in for a basic grooming and pedicure. They are a HANDFUL though and the people at Kikis were great with them. Also, they had dry skin so the groomer took it upon himself to give them a deep conditioning treatment. The girls came back very happy and feeling good. Groomer also gave me recommendation to give them cod liver oil once a week to help their dry skin. It was just a good experience all the way around and it cost $95 for 2 60 lb dogs. They are soft and smell good and are very shiny. We will be going back there next time.

You can also break open a couple of fish oil caplets in their food. That will help with their coats/skin, too.

Thanks. I also pour a little olive oil on their kibble sometimes and mix it up. Obviously it is not working to well so I am going to buy fish oil tomorrow. I get very dry skin up here too. I literally bathe in shea butter twice a day.

Sabon makes this really sweet seasalt scrub. I swear to God, I feel like silk when I get out of the shower. And it smells awesome.

Yeah I use that and love it the patchouli vanilla kind and Carol's Daughter also makes it. I use that plus the shea souffle every day twice. We are just accustomed to a much more warm and humid climate. I think theres wierd stuff in the water here too. Home it is pure rainwater we bathe in. I don't even need to use lotion home. Maybe I should eat fish oil too.

I grew up in Florida. I never needed lotion there. Here, I have to bathe in the shit because my skin gets so dry. I'm always on the look out for stuff that works. If I hear of anything new, I'll let you know!

OK so you know what I am talking about then! Seriously I do recommend the Carols Daughter sea salt scrub and shea souffle combo it does work well. They have something called body butter too which is more moisturizing but it seems to just be too damn greasy my skin never fully absorbs it.

I am just so glad my girls feel better! It was killing me seeing them so scratchy and all the skin flakes. Me, I will survive...

$95 for 2 60 lb dogs is pretty good, especially considering what a great job they did. We need pics of the cuties!

I don't currently have a camera I dropped my last one by accident and have not had the time to get a new one as of yet. When I do they will be in my avatar. Kikis is just a good place though. I really like them.

BTW it is me who made a huge effort to try to contact you when you got your catbites and I was not yet a member of the forum. Your mother wrote me back. I was trying to communicate the seriousness of the matter to you and was glad when your mom wrote me back and said you were already on the IV drip. I hope you are back to normal now with full hand and arm movement and everything.

"back to normal" is a relative term....just sayin' :-)

Thank you for that! I kept meaning to email you to thank you myself but things were crazy from that whole thing, then madness at work because of the holidays. I was on antibiotics for about 2 weeks after I got out of the hospital and my poor stomach was ruined. My hand looks a lot better, still doesn't look pretty but not horribly disfigured! Thanks so much!

Take megadopholous or some type of probiotic to rebalance your tummy after the antibiotics.

Your hand will look normal again in a while. Don't worry. If it is stiff at all, massage and stretch it alot and squeeze a ball alot.

I'm still taking acidophilus every day trying to get my good bacteria back. (Is it just me or does megadopholous sound like a prehistoric shark?) And stiffness isn't too much of a problem since I use my hands a lot at work. (What with all those lushes buying booze, *cough* flexichick *cough*.) The 1st week back was the worst, my whole arm would ache at the end of the night. All's well that ends well though, could have been worse and I have some cool scars.

Or flax oil if you don't like the fishy smell. But keep it in the fridge -- goes off really fast. Our vet rec'd it. Good for people too, mildly nutty in salad dressing.

My dog doesn't always appreciate oil of any sort added to his dinner but will gladly swallow a fish oil capsule (just act like it's a treat and make 'em sit or do a trick for it).
