Come on. Isa? Vegan Chat-N-Chew? No-one has an entrepeneurial {sp?} spirit? I'm shocked. :o

It's just that spirit doesn't pay the rent.

I wish I could afford to open a bakery/pastry shop :( I would be willing to work for free on weekends baking if anyone opens one (hint hint) :)

I keep hearing we're getting a big bakery next to the Met, in the old fish shop, but no-one's been working on that space for a long time.

    One word, Isa: backer.

    Couple things-

    A) Do vegans/vegetarians go out to eat a lot? My wife is 4-5 months into being a vegetarian, and at first we made food at home because there just weren't a lot of options out there, but now we just really enjoy making our own food. To be honest, I don't know that we'd eat out more than a few meals a month even if the options were there... is this pretty common?

    2) We ordered Vegan with a Vengeance, but evidently it takes about 5-7 business days to get across the river from Jersey City...

How much would it cost to open a small bakery/coffee shop? That would a great add to the nabe!

    1. That's not the Hibiscus space, is it? Did they close down? Come on, don't MAKE me walk 3 blocks to find out...

    2. $1100 for 350 square feet is pretty good, right?

1} Yeah, she closed the cafe', and is keeping the flower shop. It was just too much work for one person.

2} Sort of. That's pretty small, not many businesses can flourish in a space that tight. I'd definitely bargain, if you're interested in it.

More Vanderbilt news: The liquor store across the street from me {Dean and Bergen} is also closed, and being renovated. They were giving out a wheelbarrow full of alchyhol this afternoon as I walked by. Had too much pride to go a-diggin, though, and a crowd had already formed. :)

The building sold to a neighborhood guy. Don't know what's going in there, but it will be nice, that I'm sure of.

Damn! I was walking down that block just yesterday and again on the Underhill equivalent today. Nothing's ever going down when I'm happening by!

    A) I would venture a guess that vegetarians cook at home more often than omnivores, but that could be because of the lack of veggie dining options. There are lots of successful vegetarian and vegan restaurants so I am not worried about a lack of business.

    2) Thanks for ordering it! Amazon is being weird and saying it takes 5-7 but most people are receiving it in 2 or 3 days so hopefully it will get to you soon.

On the matter of backing - I am exploring those avenues but have yet to hit paydirt. I would love that location, though!
