Wi-Fi in the park going away

Okay, not that I was using it or anything, but I like the idea of free city wi-fi. The project had managed a few hot spots in Central and Prospect Park. They didn't get corporate funding to sustain and grow the network, so what's there is coming down.

Heard it on the radio this morning...prolly a piece in the NYT about it...

    Agreed, but would rather see the City focus on maintaining those parks. I can surf the 'net at the library or at home. I want to frolic in a park, sans laptop.

    Agreed - that's how I use the park too. I think it was entirely privately funded -- and the parks with big privatization like Bryant behind the main NYPL at 42nd St are keeping their wi-fi.

    Agreed - that's how I use the park too. I think it was entirely privately funded -- and the parks with big privatization like Bryant behind the main NYPL at 42nd St are keeping their wi-fi.

    i think bryant park and battery park and union square are 3 places it would make sense -- people stopping by on their lunch breaks during work. but central park and prospect park tend to be more of a destination.

    although i'm all for free wifi in all places for the whole city, including homes. :-)
