Coney Island is now completely gone??

    That's a crime against humanity.

    quoting your article:

''will become a permanent and iconic part of the 27-acre redeveloped amusement district in Coney Island, city officials said ... the new Coney Island should be a mix of the historic old Coney Island and the best of the new''

That's good news. Initially, it appeared to me that the entire character of the old amusement park was to be kaput. Well, at least now some part of it will be preserved so that future generations can partake of the fun we old timers always had.

    :D

Mounting these "relics", the parachute drop and the rocket is like taxidermy is to wildlife. Coney Island was always about appealing to the lowest common denominator of the masses. The beauty of CI was it's ability to shock the bourgeois. This "new" Coney is nothing more than a diapered 200lb chimp.
